From the Principal
Welcome to West Carthage Elementary!
My name is Marcy Petzoldt, and I am proud to serve as the principal of West Carthage Elementary. It is an honor to lead and collaborate with an excellent team of professionals here at Carthage CSD. Together, we are committed to supporting the district’s mission to improve student success, build strong community connections, and prioritize health and safety.
My educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education from SUNY Cortland (go Red Dragons!). I also hold a Master’s Degree in Literacy from SUNY Potsdam and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from SUNY Oswego.
As the principal of West Carthage Elementary, I bring nearly 20 years of experience in education. My professional background has provided me with the opportunity to serve in different roles throughout my career, and I have experience with students at every grade level K-5. While my professional career is very important to me, I also deeply cherish my other roles as a wife and mom of three wonderful boys. As a parent and educator, I am committed to being a lifelong learner who is always looking to do what is best for kids (whether they are part of our home or our school community).
At West Carthage Elementary, we believe every child belongs and deserves a safe, nurturing place to learn and grow. We know that strong partnerships between families and the school are essential to your child’s success. This year, we invite you to engage with us through family events, volunteer opportunities, and open communication. Together, we can create an outstanding learning experience for all our students.
Thank you for being part of our school community. I look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Marcy Petzoldt
